Labor Day road race approaching

The annual Caribou Labor Day Road Race will be held Sept. 7 at Caribou High School, beginning with the walkers setting off at 10:30 a.m. and then the runners at 11 a.m. The walkers will use a five-kilometer course, while the runners will do an 8K.

Viking Run set for Sept. 7

The annual Aroostook Saving and Loan Viking Run will be held at the Caribou High School track on Labor Day Monday Sept. 7 at 9 a.m. Registration for the 10 separate children’s races begins at 8 a.m. Runners from age 2 through the eighth grade are encouraged to attend. Pre-K and kindergarten runners compete in a quarter-mile run. The first-, second-, third- and fourth-graders in a half-mile run and fifth-, sixth-, seventh-, and eighth-graders in a one-mile run.

There will be trophies for the top three male and female finishers in each race. Ribbons and T-shirts will be awarded to all the young athletes who take part.

Hodgdon Alumni Games planned

Hodgdon High School will host an alumni game on Thursday for former Hawk boys and girls soccer players. The girls game starts at 4:30 p.m., followed by the boys at 7 p.m.  Any interested alumni are encouraged to show up and lace their cleats up one more time. No pre-registration is needed.
