NEW LIMERICK – Normand R. Sirois, 81, of New Limerick died at home, August 13, 2015, in his favorite room he called “The Porch”, with his family at his side. He was born Oct. 21, 1933 in St. Leonard, New Brunswick, Canada, the son of Fidele & Henriette (Bourgoin) Sirois.
He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, a member of the Knights of Columbus Council where he was a 4th Degree Knight, served as Grand Knight, receiving many awards. He enjoyed many of the activities with the Knights, especially running bingo and kitchen duty. He worked as a small engine mechanic in Lincoln and later at Cunliffe’s chainsaw shop in Houlton. He also worked at Cameron’s Market doing various jobs but especially enjoyed interacting with customers. He enjoyed his children, grandchildren and looked forward to family barbeques.
Normand is survived by his wife of 57 years, Verna (Ouellette) Sirois; four children, Phyllis and Louis Blanchette of Houlton, Vernon and Lisa Sirois of Hammond, Denise and Doug Cameron of Smyrna, Michelle Lambert and her fiancé, Dan Groves, of Brooksville, FL; five grandchildren, Shane and Tiffany Sirois, Corey and Brooke Sirois, Renee Sirois, Josh Blanchette and Lindsay Corey and Marina Cameron; three great-grandchildren, Brody, Bentlee and Collin; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Normand is predeceased by his parents and four siblings.
A mass of Christian burial was held 11 a.m., Tues., August 18 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Houlton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Roof Fund c/o St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 112 Military St., Houlton, ME 04730. Interment was August 24, 2015, at the New Limerick Cemetery.
