HOULTON – Polly Anna Duff-Hebert, 48 years of age, died August 22, 2015, after a brief illness. She was born in Houlton, Maine on January 18, 1967, the daughter of Arnold C. and Viola M. (Cassidy) Duff.
Polly attended Houlton schools and graduated from Houlton High School in 1985. She attended the University of Maine at Machias and Presque Isle. Polly worked for Shop N’ Save, Burrelle’s and Steego Auto Parts as a secretary and book keeper. But, the two jobs that brought her much joy were those of a devoted mother and wife.
Throughout her life, Polly participated in the Houlton Council of Catholic Women, she volunteered her time to read with students at Houlton Elementary School, she taught Faith Formation classes to children preparing for their First Communion and Confirmation, she volunteered at the Town of Houlton Voting Polls, she volunteered her time and energy to various activities within the Houlton Community, and home schooled her three beautiful children.
Polly married the love of her life, Todd, on September 5, 1998 at St. Mary’s of the Visitation Catholic Church. They spent 17 years together creating marvelous memories and adding to their wonderful family of three children. Together they very carefully laid a loving and spiritual foundation for their little family. Polly lived her life knowing that an individual can plan their life course, but…the Lord directs one’s steps; (Proverbs 16:9). Her life’s creed was to love all, trust few, and harm no one.
Polly was a daughter, a sister, a wife, a teacher, and most importantly, a mother. She was fervent in her passionate love of her family. And when her children were around, she would light up any room with a glow of a mother’s love. In her mind and heart, her cup runneth over with the love of a good man coupled with her finest achievement, her three children. Polly’s elite ability as a mother was matched by her unwavering kindness, personal character, and genuine humility. She made every day an adventure filled with life, love, and laughter.
Polly Anna is survived by her husband Todd; her three children, son, Patrick Arnold, daughters, Helen Marie and Lucy Ann; five remaining siblings, brother, Joseph A. Duff and wife, Brenda, of Houlton, Susan (Suzie) A. Duff of Searsport, Mary A. Duff, Molly A. Duff, and Julie (Jules) A.
