AMITY, Maine — An 18-year-old Danforth woman struck a moose while traveling on U.S. Route 1 Sunday evening.
According to Maine State Police Sgt. Josh Haines, Adreanna Phillips of Danforth was traveling south on U.S. Route 1 in Amity in a 2001 Toyota Camry at about 10:50 p.m. Sunday when a moose entered the roadway. Phillips was unable to avoid the moose and struck it head on.
Phillips was transported by Houlton Ambulance to the Houlton Regional Hospital and her vehicle sustained substantial damage to the front. Phillips was wearing her seatbelt, police said. The moose was killed.
