The temperatures, and the soccer action, remained red-hot for much of last week until rain forced a bundle of washouts Friday. As of Tuesday morning, the Houlton boys (1-0-1) were ranked fourth in the Class C North region, while undefeated Hodgdon (3-0) was ranked seventh in Class D North, followed by No. 16 Southern Aroostook (1-3), No. 17 East Grand and No. 19 Katahdin, both at 0-3.
The following is a recap of games played through Monday, Sept. 14.
Hodgdon 10, Katahdin 6 — At Hodgdon Monday, Dylan Oliver and Jimmy Buzzell both recorded hat tricks to lead the Hawks to victory. Hodgdon has outscored its opponents 23-13 in the first three games of the season.
Wyatt Foster chipped in with two goals for the Hawks, while Daden Palmer and Jordyn Merritt each added a goal. Buzzell, Oliver and Bobby Ramsey notched assists.
Tyson Porter, Dakota Reinhardt, Riley Somers, Daniel Moody-Kay, Devin McGraw and Nik Drew each had one goal apiece for 0-3 Katahdin. William Schilkowski had an assist.

Hodgdon 7, East Grand 2 — At Hodgdon Sept. 8, Buzzell booted in four goals to lead Hodgdon to victory over East Grand. The Hawks also received two goals from Palmer and a solo goal from Foster. Merritt and Foster each had an assist.
Josh Jones and Wyatt Oliver each scored a goal for the Vikings (0-2). Goalie statistics were not reported.
Ashland 3, Southern Aroostook 1 — At Ashland, Kyle Beaulier scored a goal in each half to carry the Hornets past the Warriors. Alex Keiser also scored for Ashland (5-2) and Lucas Craig provided an assist.
Josh Perrin scored the lone goal for Southern Aroostook. Timmy Tarr made four saves on eight shots for Ashland, while Nolan Altvater made eight saves on 15 shots for the Warriors.
Houlton 3, Mattanawcook Academy 3 — At Lincoln Sept. 8, Houlton midfielder Connor Grant scored his first of two first-half goals just 30 seconds into the game. The Lynx battled back to cut the lead to 2-1 at halftime on a penalty kick by Noah Hesseltine.
Houlton jumped to an early lead with help from two early Grant goals but Mattanawcook scored a penalty kick to end the half and scored another midway through the second half.
Pat Howe scored off a rebound to bring the score to 3-2, and Mattanawcook Academy sophomore John Farrington blasted the tying goal from 20 yards out with 17:58 remaining in regulation.
The overtime periods saw numerous offensive chances for both sides and strong goaltending by Houlton keeper AJ Henderson and MA netminder Arnold Corbett. Henderson made 12 saves on 18 shots, while Corbett had 15 saves on 24 shots for the 1-0-1 Lynx.
Fort Fairfield 9, East Grand 0 — At Danforth Sept. 10, Chris Giberson recorded three goals, while Isaac Cyr and Jonah Daigle each added two goals to propel Fort Fairfield to its fifth win of the season. Tiger keeper Dalton Cassidy earned the shutout, stopping all six shots he faced. For East Grand (0-3), Brady McEwen made 20 saves on 29 shots.
Lee Academy 6, Katahdin 3 — At Lee Sept. 10, Max Ernst scored a hat trick to lead Lee Academy to victory over Katahdin for the team’s first win.
Howie Lin opened the scoring for the Pandas with a goal at 32:11 of the first half. Ernst scored at the 18:08 mark and at 15:12 before Katahdin’s Daniel Moody-Kay scored late in first half to cut the deficit to 3-1.
Lee Academy (1-0-1) received second-half goals from Nor Tailaiti, Simon Calo and Ernst. Caleb Nicholas added an assist.
Tyson Porter also scored twice in the second half for Katahdin.
Lee goalies Maurice Kopp and Matthew Knowles combined to make 10 saves on 14 Katahdin shots. Tanner Lane turned away 19 of 30 shots for the Cougars.
