ALLENTOWN, PA – Rev. Daniel Webster Evans, 83, of Allentown, PA, formerly of OR, ME and MA went home to be with the Lord on September 11, 2015. He was the husband of Loretta K. (Kozy) Evans. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on June 4, 2015.
Born in New York City, NY, he was the son of the late Daniel Webster and Ethel (Studwell) Evans. He was a graduate of the Pomfret School, Pomfret, CT and graduated from Nyack College, Nyack, NY in 1956. Then, of course, the real education came from what he described as “The School of Hard Knocks”.
He has served the Lord and congregations in five churches in OR, ME, PA and MA. Locally, he served Schantz Road Community Church, Wescosville from 1976 to 1993. He retired in 1996 from Grace Alliance Church, Buzzards Bay, MA. He has served church congregations for 40 years. He was a member of the former Wellspring Community Church, Allentown.
He loved and treasured his wife and family. He gave his life to do the Lord’s work and we now find comfort in the fact that he is in the Lord’s presence.
He is survived by his wife; sons, Eric E. Evans, husband of Donna of Allentown, Dwight D. Evans and his wife, Eve, of Albrightsville, Craig C. Evans of Sellersville, Brent B. Evans and his wife, Beth of Longmont, CO; daughter, Annette A., wife of Charlie Thiel of Allentown; grandchildren, Preston, Collin, Norelle, Lane, Levi, Eden, Daniel, Dustin, Greta, Michael, Sierra, Alexis and Andrew; and great-grandsons, Saxon and Nollie.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, at 2 p.m. in the J. S. Burkholder Funeral Home, 16th and Hamilton Sts., Allentown, PA.
