PRESQUE ISLE – Gladys Marian (Dunlap) Brewer, 91, passed away peacefully on September 17, 2015. She was born in Glenwood Plantation on January 16, 1924, the daughter of Ervin and Velma (Butterfield) Dunlap. She attended schools in the Wytopitlock area.

She was an active member of the Dorcus Circle and a previous member of the Susanna Wesley Circle. Until just recently, Gladys lived in the PI Housing complex for the elderly for over thirty years. She was moved to the Madigan House facility in Houlton three weeks ago, where she made friends quickly and settled in for her last journey on earth. While eating, she choked and ended up with full fledged aspirated pneumonia. She was moved to TAMC for seven days and then to Presque Isle Nursing and Rehab Center for her last three days.
Gladys is survived by her niece and “daughter she never had”, Sally (Curtis) Lewin of Presque Isle; “special” niece, Karla (Ron) Seaman of Freeport; brother-in-law, Jay Brewer of Monticello; sisters-in-law, Iona (Brewer) Nadeau of Oakfield and Betty (Brewer) Williams of Houlton; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was known as “Grammie Gladys” to Aaron and Jennifer Buzza and daughter, Maddie of Mapleton; Paul and Holly Smeltzer and children, and Becky (Smeltzer) Humphrey, her husband and children, all of southern Maine. She leaves behind special friends, Evelyn Holder, Beverly Nelder, Carolyn Kimball and Vivian Larson.
