Stacyville man indicted on several charges after car hits church

CARIBOU — A 46-year-old Stacyville man was indicted on several charges by the Aroostook County grand jury after the car he was driving veered out of control this past summer and hit a church in Sherman.

Aroostook County District Attorney Todd Collins said that Robert W. Catlin, 46, Stacyville, was indicted on charges of operating under the influence, operating after suspension, driving to endanger and aggravated criminal mischief.

According to Maine State Police, Catlin had been traveling east on Main Street in Sherman at 2:18 p.m. in a 1998 Chevy S-10 pickup when he went straight through a fork in the road, missed a piece of construction equipment and struck a church. He was taken to Houlton Regional Hospital. He had been wearing his seat belt and his injuries were not life threatening.

Collins said that the the grand jury handed down 25 indictments during its latest session.

Connie L. Theriault, 40, Caribou, theft.

David Ngo, 20, Houlton, aggravated assault.

Kayla M. Bernabo, 22, Houlton, unlawful possession of scheduled drugs.

Jaimee M. Shaffer, 31, Patten, negotiating a worthless instrument with priors.

Brian A. Boulware, 32, Van Buren, assault with priors, and terrorizing.

Nolan A. Cunningham, 32, Washburn, stealing drugs.

Richard V. LaPointe, 18, St. John Plantation, theft, burglary of a motor vehicle, theft by unauthorized taking, and burglary.

Zachary R. McBreairty, St. John Plantation, theft by unauthorized taking, and burglary of a motor vehicle.

Steven Van Buren, 32, St. John Plantation, possession of sexually explicit materials.

Michael A. Morneault Jr.,19, homeless, assault on a corrections officer.

John E. Higgins, 54, Frenchville, theft by deception, and unemployment fraud.

Larry A. Easler, 38, Presque Isle, theft by deception, and unemployment fraud.

Jacob D. Poitraw, 18, Caribou, burglary, theft by unauthorized taking, criminal mischief, criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon, and assault.

Colen M. McNally, 49, Sherman, unlawful trafficking in scheduled drugs.

Travis L. Cottle, 29, Cary Plantation, trafficking in prison contraband.

Dennis M. Daly, 39, Houlton, unlawful possession of scheduled drugs.

Wayne J. Cofske, 54, Linneus, possession of a firearm by a prohibited person.

Travis L. Merritt, 34, Houlton, operating after revocation, and violation of conditions of release.

Terry Anderson, 62, Oakfield, operating after revocation.

Matthew G. Belden, 40, Presque Isle, operating under the influence, unlawful possession of scheduled drugs (seven counts), unlawful trafficking in scheduled drugs, and criminal forfeiture of money.

Garnett E. Page, 35, Presque Isle, unlawful trafficking in scheduled drugs, unlawful possession of scheduled drugs (five counts), and criminal forfeiture of money.
