WINCHESTER, VA — Patricia Ann Collins Selover, 81, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 11, 2015, at her residence. Patricia was born in 1934 in Houlton, ME, second daughter of the late Murlin “Mickey” and Sylvia Henderson Collins.
She was a 1952 graduate of Houlton High School, and a 1954 graduate of the Philadelphia General Hospital X-Ray Technician program, which lead her to a long and rewarding career in the medical imaging field, working with the INOVA Hospital system before her retirement in the 1990s. Patricia married engineer and military veteran F. Fred Selover, formerly of Akron, Ohio, on May 23, 1959 in New York, settling in New Rochelle. The couple were later longtime residents of West Springfield, VA, as well as members of the Solomons Island Yacht Club, in Solomons, MD, where they moored their sailboat “Empathy”.
Her husband preceded her in death on November 8, 2000. After retirement, “Patty” spent time gardening, watching over her beloved cats, and volunteering her time and resources to those in need through various community organizations.
Patty is survived by her sister, Marilyn Collins Fenton of Manassas, VA, and her three nephews, Donald Fenton of Woodbridge, VA, along with wife, Rosemary, his children and grandchildren; Dana Fenton of Charlotte, NC, and wife, Amy and their children; and Dennis Fenton of Winchester, VA and his wife, Cynthia.
