PRESQUE ISLE — The Aroostook Training and Education Coalition (ATEC) will hold its Fall Conference Thursday, Nov. 12, at Northern Maine Community College in Presque Isle.
The event is slated from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Edmunds Conference Center, with the topic of dealing with conflict in the workplace.
Scott Voisine, dean of community education at the University of Maine at Fort Kent, will facilitate the sessions. Voisine received his bachelor’s degree in education from UMFK and a master’s in professional education from the University of Southern Maine. He has been at UMFK for 20 years.
While workplace conflicts are inevitable, organizers said, most of these can be resolved fairly easily and in a way that benefits all concerned. In this full day of information and strategy, participants will learn a system of sound conflict solutions that have been proven effective in relieving tension, anxiety and anger that can arise with conflicts.
The seminar schedule includes registration from 9-9:30 a.m.; “Defining and Analyzing Conflict,” from 9:30-10:30 a.m.; “Conflict Resolution,” 10:45 a.m.-noon; lunch from 12-1 p.m.; “Conflict Resolution” continued from 1-2 p.m.; and “Problem Solving, Communication and Mediation” from 2-3:45.
ATEC is an alliance of businesses, community organizations, social service agencies and educators who partner, network and collaborate to address challenges facing Aroostook County citizens.
