PRESQUE ISLE — The University of Maine at Presque Isle’s Geographic Information System (GIS) Laboratory and the U.S. Geological Survey recently held a training session in conjunction with the Tribal Leaders Summit and Environmental Conference.

The daylong training, which covered LiDAR and 3D mapping, took place in the GIS Lab, located in Folsom Hall room 201. The Tribal Leaders Summit and Environmental Conference was organized by the federal Environmental Protection Agency [EPA] Region 1, which covers New England.

UMPI’s Dr. Chunzeng Wang, professor of earth and environmental sciences, was principal instructor, along with Dan Walters, the national map liaison at the USGS.
