Ricker College Board holds annual meeting

The Ricker College Board of Trustees convened for its annual meeting on Oct. 23 at the board room in the Trust Building.

Teran Clark, chair of the board, presided over the meeting at which the following officers were elected for 2016: chair, Teran Clark; vice-chair, Woodrow Dunphy; treasurer, Gerald Riley; and secretary, Alison Bossie.

The Nominations Committee renewed the following members for three years: Gerald Riley, Paul Adams, Alison Bossie and Teran Clark.

Executive Director Gary Bossie presented trustee jackets to retiring members John Clark and Gary Stairs. Clark served the board for 24 years and Stairs for 12 years.

Newly elected to the board to replace Clark and Stairs were Robert Anderson of Houlton and Travis Maher-Watson of Fredericton, N.B.

Bossie reported on numerous matters including the fact 104 scholarship recipients are currently in college, each receiving $1,500 annually for four years. He reported that since the first scholarship was awarded in 1985, the board has distributed more than $3.7 million to assist graduates from high schools that serve Aroostook and Washington Counties.

The Ricker College Board is a private, non-profit, charitable corporation which administers funds bequeathed to the board for educational purposes.
