LINNEUS — A Houlton teenager, who was illegally carrying too many passengers, rolled the pick-up truck he was driving around midnight Friday.
The crash ejected the male driver and injured all four of his passengers, according to Trooper Chuck T. Michaud of the Maine State Police.
The juvenile driver, who was not identified by police because of his age, lost control of his full-size extended cab pick-up truck around 11:45 p.m. while turning onto Bates Hill Road from Drews Mills Road, Michaud said. Troopers Adam Bell and John Darcy went to the scene of the crash
“The truck went off the road, down an embankment, and rolled over,” Michaud said in a news release. “The driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected and sustained a serious foot/leg injury. The juvenile operator had four passengers in the vehicle, who were all juveniles as well.”
The trooper said everyone in the crash suffered an injury of some type, but none were considered life-threatening. The teenage driver and his passengers were taken to Houlton Regional Hospital. Their conditions were not released.
“The driver was carrying passengers beyond the restrictions of an intermediate license,” Michaud said. “Charges are pending.”
The crash remains under investigation. Houlton Ambulance and the Linneus Fire Department assisted in the case.
