CHICAGO — Officials with the American Hospital Association Certification Center (AHA-CC) have announced that Trudy O’Bar has earned the designation of Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management (CPHRM). Administered since 2000, the CPHRM is a national credential that distinguishes an individual as being among an elite group of over 2,200 health care risk management professionals who currently hold the certification.
Trudy states “I have been here at Houlton Regional Hospital (and Houlton) for 28 years. I have been in my current position as Quality/Risk Manager for one year. I have two daughters and one adorable grandson. I am passionate about Houlton Regional Hospital by giving the best and safest care it can and remaining current in today’s health care market.”
The CPHRM Certification program supports the community of healthcare risk management professionals and is designed to provide an objective and rigorous assessment of broad-based knowledge in health care risk management. To earn the CPHRM certification, an individual must satisfy eligibility requirements that incorporate a blend of education and associated health care-specific professional experience, agree to adhere to the AHA Professional Standards of Conduct, and pass the CPHRM Certification Examination.
The CPHRM Examination is designed to test a well-defined body of knowledge that is representative of practice in these health care risk management areas: Clinical and Patient Safety; Risk Financing; Legal and Regulatory; Health care Operations; and Claims and Litigation. To retain the certification, CPHRM certificants must demonstrate commitment to ongoing professional development by maintaining currency of the certification through participation in professional development activities.
In addition to the Certified Professional in Health care Risk Management program, the AHA Certification Center administers the following healthcare-specific, experience-based certification
programs: Certified Health care Constructor (CHC), Certified Health care Environmental Services Professional (CHESP), Certified Health care Facility Manager (CHFM), Certified Materials and Resource Professional (CMRP) and Certified in Health care Human Resources (CHHR).
