Ark Animal Sanctuary

About five or six years ago The Ark cleaned up a hoarding situation in Island Falls. We took out over 20 cats and kittens, got them altered and found homes for them all.

There were two cats from this place that touched our hearts and made us remember why we do what we do. These two tiny kittens had fallen in a bucket of bleach and water, which had permanently affected their eyes. We named them Millie and Mabel. They were at The Ark for so long our hearts broke for them.

Finally, after over a year, their chance came and they were adopted to what we thought was a good home. References were checked and everything seemed good. Less than a year later we found out that their new owners moved away and left Millie and Mabel plus a third kitten outside in the dead of winter to fend for themselves. Thankfully the neighbors knew Mabel and Millie and called us right away. We brought them and the other kitten back home to the Ark.

It seemed like the girls had once again taken up permanent residence at The Ark. Finally, a very kind lady came in and adopted them into her wonderful home. The girls thrived in their new environment and they loved their new owner. Sadly, Millie got out one day and never returned, so now for the first time in her life Mabel was by herself. She had always been with Millie; they were kindred spirits.

In the few years that followed, Mabel’s owner was hospitalized and would not return home. So now it is just Mabel by herself, and once again she returns to The Ark.

Mabel is such a good girl. She doesn’t need much, just a home that is forever this time. She is very affectionate and is the prettiest grey tiger. She is a little on the plump side but there is more of her to love. Mabel gets along very well with other cats and loves plenty of affection and cuddle time. As Mabel got older, her eyes improved, and you can barely notice any scarring.

This holiday season we at The Ark believe in the magic of the holidays, and so does Mabel. Is there room in your heart and home to give Mabel the life she so deserves?

We are going to be selective on where Mabel goes. She does not need any more stress in her life. Her new family needs to make a serious commitment to ensure her a forever home. Mabel is about 6 or 7. She is spayed and will be up to date on vaccinations prior to her adoption.
