AKFIELD — Leah K. Hersey, 85, went home to be with her Lord on Dec. 5, 2015. She was born May 25,1930 in Merrill, the daughter of Don and Pearl (Tozer) Mitchell. Leah played the piano, taught Sunday School , and was a very active member of the Bethel Pentecostal Church. She loved to sew, cook, hunt and was a crack shot, she loved four wheeling and going into the woods and was an avid Red Sox fan.
She is survived her husband of 66 years, Albert Hersey of Oakfield; and three children, Barbara and Gene Lawlor of Merrill, Neil and Becky Hersey of Fort Fairfield, and Angela and Kenneth Pratt of Hampden; ten grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; three brothers, Phil and Sue Mitchell of West Virginia, Eric and Diane Mitchell of Pennsylvania and Steven Mitchell of Merrill; one sister,Ginny and Larry Bell of Mississippi, and her beloved kitty, Miles. She was predeased by her parents and son, Duane and nine siblings.
Friends called from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Bethel Pentecostal Church Oakfield where a funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday with the Reverend Sterling Lawrence officiating. Interment will be in the Oakfield Cemetery. Online condolences may be made to www.bowersfuneral.com.
