If you and your children enjoyed “The Day the Crayons Quit” by Drew Daywalt you’ll likely want to read “The Day the Crayons Came Home” by the same author- illustrated by Oliver Jeffers.
Many parents will relate to the human characteristics children will assign to various toys. The latest one I noticed was a three-year-old using Legos as firefighters on his fire rescue trucks. His crayons would have worked just as well as the Legos.
Well, well, – these crayons have been lost, forgotten, and had some accidents and they want to come home- now.
They can write so they each send a postcard to Duncan with their location, begging for his attention. Poor red crayon gets a wee bit far afield when he writes of being in New Jersey on a camel with pyramids showing in the background!
This wonderful book has already been chosen for dedication in the Christmas program where you may purchase a book for only $10, dedicating it in memory of a friend or family member or to honor a special friend. Likely that person will not have a name like”Esteban the Magnificent (formerly Pea Green)”!
As most of us know the quote “Books Are Fun” and this is one of those., even for adults.
