HOULTON — Mrs. Jean M. Adams of Houlton passed peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, Dec. 19th at Madigan House following a long fight with cancer. She was born Eugenia Marie Pond to Charles and Latepha (Albert) Pond on Sept. 13th, 1925 in Winterville, Maine.
Jean was raised and attended school, through high school, in Patten, Maine. In 1947 she married the late Newell Adams of Oakfield, Maine and together they settled in Houlton raising four sons: Paul Adams and his companion Susan Golding of Houlton, Maine; George Adams and his wife Dawn of Arundal, Maine; Dana Adams and his wife Debra of Sanford, FL and Steve Adams and his companion Athena Spyrats of Orlando, FL.
She is survived by her four sons and their families; one brother, Fred Pond of Patten, and many very loved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a special niece Marcia (Pond) Anderson. She was predeceased by her husband and three brothers; Albert “Pondie” Pond, James “Jimmy” Pond and John Pond.
Friends called from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, Dec. 21, 2015 at Dunn Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Saint Mary of the Visitation Church with the Rev. David Raymond celebrant. Following the mass, there was a reception in the Parish Center. A spring committal will take place at Evergreen Cemetery, Houlton.
