DRAKE, Janet, 71, Dec. 22, 2015. Services are being held at the First Pentecostal Church in Houlton, Saturday, Jan. 9 at 2 p.m.
Janet was born in Rochester, NY, July 26, 1944. She spent most of her young life living between Fla. and New York. The last 18 years, she blessed Houlton, Maine. She unexpectedly passed away Dec. 22, 2015. By her side were her husband of 30 plus years, Woody, and her son Clyde.
Janet was a kind hearted, loving person, that would help anyone in any way that she could, whether it was just listening, kind words of wisdom, or cooking for anyone that walked through her door. No one ever left hungry.
Janet spent her days enjoying her family, friends, animals, especially her dog Ruby and sharing her knowledge of horses. Over the years she taught many “kids” and “grandkids” the love of riding. Janet’s true passion was watching the “kids” grow into superior riders at the local horse shows. Janet prepared all summer for her favorite time of year, The Springfield Fair, where she was known as the “Chicken Lady.”
Because of Janet’s kind ways, many called her Ma, Mom, or Gramma. When asked how many kids or grandkids she had, she would reply with a laugh, and stated “Woody and I have, Mine, His, Ours, and Everyone Else’s”.
Janet was predeceased by both her parents, Clyde and Mae, brother Tody, sister Valma, and grandson Riley.
Janet is survived by her loving husband George “Woody” Drake; her children, Karen and Keith, Ann and Ken, Kim and Jeff, Clyde, Johnny, Matthew and Stacey, Ernie, Dawn, Gail, Michelle, and Courtney; her grandchildren, Sammy, Dillon, Danielle, Britney, Mason, Shane, Josh, Olivia, Hunter, Chelsey, and Matthew Tompkins. She is also survived by her life long best friends, Sue Siedlicki and George Brown.
The list of family and friends that claimed her as Gramma, or Mom, was too numerous to list. Just know that you are special to her and that she loved you all.
Her funeral services are being held at The First Pentecostal Church In Houlton Saturday, Jan. 9, at 2 p.m., with a potluck following at the Party Place. Flowers can be sent to the church at 136 Main St., Houlton.
