HOULTON — A 28-year-old Hodgdon woman was arrested Wednesday, Jan. 6, after crashing into another vehicle near the Interstate-95 overpass.
According to Houlton Police Chief Joseph McKenna, Bethany Millet was driving south in the northbound lane of traffic on Route 1 at 11:05 p.m. in her 2001 Honda sedan when she struck a 2005 GMC pick-up truck operated by Dave Stevens, 73, of Ludlow.
McKenna said Houlton Police Sgt. Chuck Wampler and Officer Benjamin Boutlier were sitting in the County Federal Credit Union parking lot speaking to a Maine State Police Trooper when the two observed Millet leaving the Shiretown Motor Inn parking lot driving on the wrong side of the road. However, as the officers were pulling out of the lot to stop the vehicle, it collided with Stevens.
Millet sustained minor injuries and was charged with operating under the influence of alcohol. Stevens was not injured. Both vehicles were considered a total loss, the chief said.
