The Maine State Police Troop F barracks in Houlton responded to 124 calls for service throughout Aroostook County for the weeks of Jan. 3-16. Troopers completed nine school visits/checks during the week and had one speaking engagement.
Total arrests for the week: operating after suspension, three; operating under the influence, one; domestic violence, one; and arrest on warrants, three.
Jan. 3 — Trooper Casavant conducted a traffic stop in Bridgewater on a tractor trailer truck for speeding. As a result the 46 year old Castle Hill man was charged with OAS and possession of marijuana after Tr. Casavant smelled the marijuana and found a bag during the subsequent search. The man’s employer was contacted.
Jan. 4 — Troopers Saucier and Sylvia were called to Patten for a domestic assault. As a result of the investigation an 18-year-old Sherman man was arrested and charged with domestic violence terrorizing, criminal mischief and obstructing the report of a crime on his 20-year-old girlfriend.
Jan. 5 — Troopers Sucy and Lilley were looking for a wanted subject in the Sherman and Patten area. The man was wanted for unpaid restitution. Trooper Lilley was looking for the man for theft and Trooper Sucy needed to issue the man a trespass warning. While checking some campers on the Golden Ridge Road in Sherman the man exited one of the campers. Lilley informed the man that he was under arrest for a warrant. The man took off running and Sucy chased after the man tackling him and placed him under arrest. The man was charged with theft and served with the trespass warning. The man was also charged with possession of marijuana. The man provided drug/meth intelligence to Sucy, which will be forwarded on to MDEA. He was transported to the Aroostook County Jail.
Jan. 6 — Trooper Endre stopped a motor vehicle traveling 88 mph in a 45 mph zone. The operator was a 16-year-old juvenile. After smelling the odor of marijuana Endre searched the driver and vehicle. The trooper seized a baggie of marijuana, a joint, and two packs of cigarettes. The operator was summonsed accordingly and his mother was called.
Jan. 7 — Trooper Sucy was on routine patrol and observed a pickup with an inspection sticker that appeared to have been altered. Sucy stopped the pickup and inquired about the inspection sticker. The man stated that he got the inspection sticker from a friend off of a wrecked car. The operator also advised that his truck would not pass inspection. The man’s license to operate was currently under suspension. Sucy summoned the man for displaying an invalid inspection sticker, OAS, no proof of insurance, expired registration. The vehicle was towed.
Jan. 9 — Trooper Endre summonsed a 42-year-old male for telephone harassment after he continued texting and calling his ex-wife after Trooper Quint had warned the male subject for harassment.
Jan. 13 — During the latest snowstorm in Aroostook County, Trooper Lilley was driving north on Interstate 95 in his unmarked cruiser when he was passed by a vehicle from Massachusetts. Lilley stopped the driver who was later determined to have a suspended Massachusetts driver’s license. The driver was issued a traffic summons for imprudent speed and a criminal summons for operating without a license. There was a female passenger that had a valid license.
Trooper Darcy investigated an unattended death of a 68-year-old male in Oakfield. Nothing was suspicious about the death and the doctor signed the death certificate. Trooper Bell assisted at the scene.
Jan. 14 — Cpl. Quint summonsed a woman for operating after suspension (OAS) after stopping her for an expired inspection sticker. The woman had placed ice and snow around the inspection sticker in hopes of concealing it but a portion of the silver, expired sticker was visible. The location of the traffic incident was not reported.
Jan. 15 — Trooper Endre stopped a motor vehicle for littering on U.S. Route 1 in Mars Hill and license check revealed the 23-year-old male driver’s license status was suspended. Endre summonsed the operator for OAS.
Trooper Darcy charged a 26-year-old Patten man with Class E attaching false plates as the result of a traffic stop in Patten.
Trooper Sylvia investigated a threatening complaint in Littleton where an employee at a local garage was threatened. The respondent, who lives in Monticello, was warned and served a harassment notice.
Trooper Saucier investigated a burglary in Oakfield. The residence was vacant and when the owner came to check up on it found a window smashed and several items missing from the basement. The case remains under investigation.
Jan. 16 — Trooper Saucier stopped two vehicles for speeding on Route 11 in Hersey. One of the drivers was OAS and had a warrant for failing to appear on a previous OAS. The 21-year-old Wallagrass man was arrested on the warrant and summonsed for the OAS.
