“We saw the number of kids in each of our schools who rely heavily on our school meals program and decided that we needed to help some of those kids when school isn’t in session” said Jason Anderson, president of the association. “Through the generosity of our members, we’re able to provide 15 families with nearly a week’s worth of food that many of the kids can prepare themselves, if necessary. We’re really proud about that.”
The RSU 29 board contributed 15 five-pound precooked hams, one for each family being provided for through this program. “We’re proud to have collaborated on this initiative, and hope that we can continue to do so in the future,” said Anderson.
“If the program is successful, we’ll do this again in a few weeks when the April break rolls around,” he said. “We’re eager to learn how to make this program maximize the number of families we can have have a positive impact on.”
