HOULTON, Maine — The inaugural Kids’ Snowmobile Races were a huge success during the 20th annual Moosestompers celebration Feb. 5-7. Competitors from the ages of 4-10 years old travelled from both near and far to compete in this special event Feb. 7, 2016.

The Inaugural Kids 120 cc Snowmobile Races were designed in a format of qualifying lap times and then followed up by head-to-head racing, Each competitor drew for starting position, and then was given the opportunity to tame the snow packed racecourse by making two complete laps alone, while being electronically timed.

Following two complete rounds of qualifying times, the young racers were divided up into heat races (generally three to five entries) and were able to race side-by-side with their buddies. Each heat race consisted of five laps. All the competitors were divided into brackets that allowed everyone to get plenty of laps, through the day’s events.

Each one of the 22 snowmobile racers were awarded a trophy, participation ribbon and commemorative checkered flag, for their participation.

Carter Wiggin, Austin Witham and Brayden Thibodeau were awarded Last Chance Motorsports apparel for being the “Class Acts” of the Inaugural Kids 120cc Snowmobile Race program.
