HOULTON — Southern Aroostook Development Corporation (SADC), at its December Board of Directors meeting, selected a new slate of officers for the 2016-18 period.
Josh McLaughlin, president of J. McLaughlin Construction, LLC, was elected president for the two-year period, replacing outgoing Immediate Past President, Scott Dionne. Also elected were Chris Anderson, president and CEO of F.A. Peabody as registered agent, Peter Chase, president of Buildings Etc. as secretary and David Gates, partner in Davis, Gates and Alward, CPA’s as treasurer.
“Scott has done a remarkable job the past two years getting SADC better known in the region and creating a very exciting group approach to economic development,” said Jon McLaughlin, executive director of SADC. “One of the best programs that Scott was instrumental in developing was our Strike Team program. Patterned after the SCORE program, it allows SADC to make use of its diversified board members and contacts to help provide free mentoring advice to small and start-up businesses. It has been very well received.”
McLaughlin added, “I look forward to working with my son, Josh, for the next two years. I just hope that the many years I disciplined him growing up won’t come back to haunt me as payback!”
In other business, Jim Quirk was elected as SADC’s newest director, replacing Rosa McNally who resigned as a result of her election as a Houlton town councilor, citing time constraints for both organizations as a deciding factor. Quirk is an engineer with Smith and Wesson.
Butch Asselin, Houlton town manager; Kristi Brannen, co-owner of Spring Break Maple and Honey; Pete Chase, president of Buildings Etc.; and Terry Wade were re-elected to another three-year term.
