WOODLAND — The Miss Eastern Maine Pageant, now in its 11th year, will take place April 9 at the Woodland Elementary School.
Girls and women from across Maine who are age 4 and older are invited to join the pageant, which is an official preliminary to the Maine Academic Scholarship Pageant.
Miss Eastern Maine promotes volunteerism while allowing each girl to feel special on stage as she gains self-confidence, enjoys dressing up, meets new friends, and most of all, has fun.
All contestants participate in three events: interview, modeling and formal wear. Everyone who competes receives a gift bag, and the pageant queen for each age division receives a crown, sash, trophy, prize package and her entry paid to the Maine Academic Scholarship Pageant. This state-level pageant will be held in Saco in August.
Contestants also have the option of participating in several other competitions, including photogenic, talent, supermodel, role model and ambassador. The ambassador queen will also receive her entry paid to the Maine Academic Scholarship Pageant, in addition to receiving a crown, sash and trophy. In total, 38 different titles will be awarded.
There will be plenty of help on pageant day for those who are new to pageants. Those interested in joining must pre-register by March 27. For more information, email easternmaine@hotmail.com, call Dawn Winchester at 214-8504 or Crystal Annis at 214-6402.
