Winter Carnival is rousing success

DANFORTH, Maine — Well over 100 people packed the Danforth Town Hall last Friday for the DHA Winterfest Carnival. This free carnival was provided Danforth Habilitation Association (DHA) as a gift to the community.

Two photo booths were set up (one handicap accessible) and 5- by 7-inch photos were handed out to attendees. Carnival games included a “Barbie Dunk Tank,” “Do-Nut Drop,” “Fishing Derby,” “Toilet Paper Toss” and “Punch It” (roughly based on the game show version). Children of all ages got caught up in the fun. Several children brought parents and grandparents with them. It was a real family affair.

The eighth-grade class of East Grand School was offered the opportunity to set up a concession stand to raise funds for their class trip. This, too, was a great success, according to organizers.

DHA thanks all of the volunteers who made this event possible and a special thanks to the family member of a client who inspired the event by making a donation “to hold a special event for residents.” Three different parties were held using funds from that original donation.
