HOULTON, Maine — University College at Houlton announced that registration for courses in summer and fall will open in mid-March. Degree seeking students may register on March 14 slightly ahead of non-degree students who will have access on March 21.
There will be three choices for summer session: session I is for 7 weeks and runs from May 23 through July 1; session II runs from July 5 through August 12; and, one continuous session III runs from May 23 through August 12.
According to University College at Houlton Director, Tracy Rockwell, “These 7-week sessions allow student to condense course work into a shorter period of time.”
Rockwell noted that although the summer schedule is smaller than that for fall and spring, “There are still over 600 courses available in summer from all 7 campuses in the University of Maine System when you combine all of the teaching modalities of face-to-face, interactive television, videoconference and online instruction.”
She added that UC at Houlton welcomes students from other colleges in the summer who are working or vacationing in the greater southern Aroostook area and who want to pick up some college credits.
Fall registration for courses beginning August 29 also opens on these same dates. The fall schedule includes over 1100 courses from the 7 campuses.
Rockwell noted that some courses do fill so there are advantages to acting early. Free academic advising appointments for new and returning students are available by calling UC at Houlton at 521-3100.
