To the editor:
We have our only local opportunity to speak up for fair bear hunting this evening. We are not against hunting the bear, but we are against using traps, baiting and hounding. There is nothing sporting about shooting a bear in a trap, feeding at a bait site or hounding with dogs. If you want to be a sportsperson, then be a sportsperson.
I hope many of our humane supporters will show up to speak for the bears on this issue. In Caribou, I am trying to line up a group of people to carpool to Presque Isle for the meeting. Call me at 492-2264 if you wish to attend or need a ride.
Please attend the Wednesday, March 16 session at 6 p.m in the Northeastland Hotel red room to state your opinion and/or go online to express your right to be heard on this important issue.
