DANFORTH — The National Diabetes Prevention Program is set to begin April 5 at the East Grand Health Center.
Research shows that participants in the National Diabetes Prevention Program lifestyle change intervention reduced the incidence of diabetes by 58 percent among adults with prediabetes and by 71 percent in those aged 60 years or older.
The health center will be sending out invitations to their patients that are eligible for the program; however, this program is being offered to anyone in the following categories:
– is 18 years of age or older and
– is overweight and
– has not been previous diagnosis of type 1 or type 2 diabetes and
– has had a blood test result in the prediabetes range within the past year or
– has been previously diagnosed with gestational diabetes.
