MASARDIS, Maine — A Sherman trucker was not injured March 7 when his rig rolled over on snowy Route 11, according to state police.
The road was closed because of another crash involving a truck and a snowmobile when Larry Lane, 64, came up on a line of stopped vehicles while traveling north, Cpl. Dennis Quint said.
The other crash scene was just north of where Lane rolled over his rig.
Lane, who was hauling a rig loaded with wood chips, decided he would not be able to stop in time and opted to drive his rig into a ditch in the hope of stopping before rear-ending any vehicles, Quint said.
Lane’s truck wound up rolling over in the soft shoulder and came to rest on its left side, Quint said. Lane was wearing his seat belt.
The truck was towed from the scene, and an excavator removed the wood chips once the trailer was rolled back on its wheels.
