Cheryl Williams
AUGUSTA — Cheryl Williams, an Amity author, has been invited to participate in the statewide “Silent No More”, event to be held Monday, April 11 from 6-8 p.m. in the Summit Room at Thomas College.
The event will be an open conversation responding to sexual violence in the community. Williams is the author of “Stolen Innocence; Let the Healing Begin.”
“I feel extremely honored to have been asked to be part of this panel and to be a voice for sexual abuse survivors on this important night,” Williams said. “As I started my grueling healing journey from childhood sexual assault many years ago, I had a dream of becoming a voice for the voiceless. There are so many hurting children and adults who are victims of this heinous crime, and I want to help them to become survivors so that they may too thrive one day as I do today.”
April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month. Williams, a sexual abuse survivor, said she was contacted by Kathleen Paradis, of the Sexual Assault Crisis and Support Center in Waterville, to be part of a panel consisting of Maeghan Maloney, district attorney; and William Bonney, detective sergeant.
