Everyone is different. We have our own family dynamics and our own relationship habits.
One thing we have in common is love. It could be a single mother who loves her rebel daughter or a boy who looks up to his brother. It might be a wife who missed her husband or a friend who cares.
Everyone wants love. Maybe all they need to do is open their eyes to find it.
Love is looking at someone with no teeth and seeing strength and perfection in their smile. Love is finding beauty in destruction. It’s picking up the ruins of what once was and piecing back together the beautiful masterpiece that used to lie underneath.
Love is so many different things, and there are so many ways to show it.
A daughter thinks back to her mother reminding her to wear a seatbelt this morning. A brother thinks back to his sister telling him to watch out for the puddle. A husband thinks about his wife asking, “Did you eat?” when he got off work. A girl thinks back to her friend about telling her tomorrow’s weather could be cold, so dress warm.
Maybe Mom didn’t have time to say it, and maybe it slipped a big sister’s mind. Maybe it’s uncomfortable for the boy actually to tell his brother, “I love you.” Maybe a wife had her hands full chasing after the kids, but people find ways to say “I love you” every day. One just needs to listen.
