Before you start reading, I want you to know something. You are beautiful. You are a stunning piece of art in this art show called life.
Not everyone will accept you, and very little people will understand exactly who you are. That surely doesn’t mean you have to transform yourself into someone you’re not.
I know it’s quite the concept. In my twelve years of being poked, prodded, and judged in this art show, I haven’t exactly been practicing what I preach.
George Shaw once said, “Life isn’t about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself.”
These are now the words I’m striving to live by. If you spend too long trying to find yourself, one day you will wake up and realize you were never really hiding. You were just in the making. All great works of art take forever to create and perfect; all great artists, like your parents, know what they’re doing when they put that pencil on the paper.
No one starts out as the finished product, and you shouldn’t expect yourself to be flawless right off the bat. You should smile a little bigger knowing that you, out of the 7.1 billion people in this small world, are the only you. You are incredibly special and beautiful. Keep that in the front of your brain always.
