LINNEUS & HOULTON —Evelyn Mae Nason, 91, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, April 6, surrounded by her family. She was born November 7, 1924, in Monticello, to Percy and Isabelle (Folsom) Carmichael, Sr.

She attended Monticello schools and worked in the plywood mill in Houlton until her marriage to Cecil Nason in 1943. She also worked as a nurse’s aide – a job she thoroughly enjoyed – for Agnes Folsom at Gardiner Nursing Home for many years. Other jobs included working at Aroostook General Hospital in the laundry department, home health care and in a sweater factory in Connecticut. She was a long-time, active member of the Linneus Free Will Baptist Church teaching Sunday School, working in Vacation Bible School, singing in the choir and cleaning the church.

In addition to her parents, Evelyn was predeceased by her husband, Cecil E. Nason, on August 23, 1992; one brother, Percy Carmichael Jr., and three sisters: Beatrice Little, Nettie Thibodeau, and Maxine Thibodeau; and her son, Robert L. Nason. She is survived by one sister, Priscilla Dow and her husband, Raymond, of Ludlow; daughter, Viola Byron and her husband, Larry, of Linneus; grandchildren, Martin Nason of NY; Keven Byron of Kendus-keag; Neal Byron and his wife, Sharon, of Prospect; Wendell Green of NY; Kimberly Bursey and her husband, Mark, and their children, Madelyn and Emma, of Bucksport; Amanda Nash of FL; Lauri Williams of Hodgdon; Joseph Nason of FL; Hillary Maher of MD; and several other great-grandchildren. For the past five years, Evelyn resided at Madigan Estates and the family would like to thank the staff for their care and many acts of kindness.

Services were held Friday, April 8, at the Linneus Free Will Baptist Church with Pastor Philip Smith officiating. Graveside services will be held at a later date.
