ISLAND FALLS — Barbara Engall Rioux, 86, died on April 12 in Island Falls. Barbara was born in Campbellton, NB, Canada, on February 25, 1930, to John Frederick Engall and Marion Flann Engall. She married Lester D. Rioux on July 25, 1949 and dedicated her life to raising their five children.
After moving to Island Falls, Barbara and Lester worked together to open “The Phone Shop.” She was a woman of much determination and many talents, some being wood carving, painting, and drawing. Her warm smile, loving kindness, and clever sense of humor will be dearly missed by her family.
Barbara is survived by her five children: Carolyn Rioux Grant and her husband, Carl, of Salmon Creek, NB, Canada; Randy Rioux and his wife, Anna, of Miramichi, NB, Canada; Laurie Hartin and her husband, Dwayne, of Island Falls; Ken Rioux and his wife, Jean, of Hilton Head, SC; and Vicki Rickard and her husband, Steve, of Hilton Head, SC; five grandchildren and three-great grandchildren: Gregory Rioux and his wife, Melissa, their daughters Ellie and Catherine, of Cape Breton Island, Canada; Melissa Hargrove and her husband, Brad Kersing, their son Ryan, of Melbourne, Australia; Tiffany Furbush and her husband, Zachary, of Island Falls; Jennifer Rioux of Victoria, BC, Canada; Tim Hartin of Rye, New York; three sisters: Dorayne Forster of Moncton, NB, Canada; Georgie Hamilton and her husband, Jim, of Halifax, NS, Canada; Linda Noort and her husband, Hank, of Brantford, ON, Canada, and nieces and nephews.
Barbara is predeceased by her husband, Lester, of 50 years; brother, Fred Engall; sister, Lois Engall; mother, Marion Flann Engall and father, John Frederick Engall.
