Upward Bound seeks participants

TRIO College Access Services at the University of Maine at Presque Isle is now recruiting students in grades 9-11 for the TRIO Upward Bound program.

Upward Bound is in all 16 Aroostook County high schools, and works with students who plan on attending college after high school graduation.

This free college preparatory program assists high school students to become better prepared for college. Academic year services include academic advising, tutoring, college visits, and cultural events.

The summer component includes a six-week residential stay for upperclassmen on the UM-Presque Isle campus, where students live in a college residence hall and participate in academic and elective classes, college visits and an adventure trip and career internship program.

Freshmen students have a two week college experience that will be held at the University of Maine at Fort Kent. Students with a qualifying high school grade point average have the opportunity to take a college class from UMPI professors.

All program services are free to qualifying students.
