Houlton High School Principal Marty Bouchard is pleased to announce that Class of 2016 Valedictorian June Choi has been awarded the National School Development Council’s Award for Academic Growth and Student Leadership in Learning.
NSDC is a confederation of school study or development councils located across the country.
The council embodies the philosophical and operational tenets of the school study and development council movement.
Each of these regional, state, or county-based councils is, in turn, an association of local school systems that work together – usually in conjunction with one or more institutions of higher learning – on matters of common concern.
Choi is the daughter of Keun-Hyung and Jung-Ran Choi and resides with guardians Alois and Robin Provost of Houlton.
She is the president of Houlton High School’s Student Council, vice president of the National Honor Society, and she was recently named Student of the Month for excellence in social studies.
Choi is also a student representative to the RSU 29 Board of Directors, a student mentor, and plays on the varsity tennis team.
She plans to attend the University of Richmond in Virginia in the fall.
