HOULTON, Maine — The Houlton Recreation Department has added two more activities to the summer schedule. The first one is connected to the Caribou Marathon being held in September. As part of the marathon, there will be a Kids Marathon too. A Marathon is 26.2 miles. Children age 12 and younger interested in participating in this marathon must register at www.carioburaces.com. This event is free to all children.
How the program will work is that those interested runners will run 25 of the miles this summer here in Houlton and on Sept. 18, 2016, the group will run the final 1.2 Mile in Caribou at the Race.
Martha Bell will oversee the summer program. This group will be limited to 12 participants. There will be a parent/participant meeting on Tuesday, May 24, at 6 p.m. at the Millar Civic Center to get things organized. If your child is interested in being part of this group, call the Recreation Department at 532-1310 by May 20. This is activity is free to all that participate.
The second activity being offered is a Lacrosse Clinic.
