STACYVILLE, Maine — RSU 50 will have a new, full-time superintendent for the start of the next school year.

Following a special board meeting held in executive session Monday evening, the RSU 50 board unanimously selected Todd LeRoy as its next superintendent. LeRoy, who is currently the superintendent of SAD 59 in Madison, was one of three candidates interviewed for the position and one of eight to apply, according to school officials.

LeRoy will take over for Mike Hammer, who has filled in on an interim basis since July, 2015 after serving as the superintendent in neighboring RSU 29 (Houlton) for four years. He took over for Larry Malone, who was the RSU 50 superintendent for three years.

Hammer accepted a superintendent’s job in RSU 19 in Newport last month.

Terms of LeRoy’s contract have yet to be finalized by the school board. His first day with the district is expected to be July 1.
