HOULTON, Maine — Students at Houlton Middle-High School will be canvassing the local area Tuesday, May 31, 2016 as part of the school’s annual Community Service Day.
Principal Marty Bouchard said the goal of the project is to teach students the importance of giving back to their community at an early age.
“We appreciate the support we have been given to allow our students out into the community to educate them on the values of giving back to the town they reside in,” Bouchard said.
Some students will spend the majority of the morning doing clean-up projects in Houlton’s downtown and Riverfront Park, while others will be involved in helping the Adopt-a-Block program.
Bouchard asked for motorists to use caution when driving through town that day, as there may be students out along the sides of road collecting trash. For more information, call the high school at 532-6551.
