2nd Annual Team Berry Sisters Walk for MS

ISLAND FALLS, Maine — Team Berry Sisters is comprised of the family and friends of Cora (Berry) Batchelder and Carla (Berry) Conrad, sisters who live in Island Falls who both have been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.

“In the past five years, upwards of $20,000 has been raised and donated to the National MS Society,” said Susan Batchelder, one of the event organizers. “In 2015 we decided to bring the walk ‘home’ to Island Falls. The walk was a huge success bringing in 200 walkers and raising $8,400.”

The 2016 walk will be held on Saturday, July 30, 2016. The kick-off and wrap-up will be at the Island Falls VFW. Registration starts at 8 a.m. with the walk commencing at 9 a.m.

The event will feature a 5K route as well as a shorter 1-mile route. There is a suggested registration fee of $25 to participate.

“We encourage people to rally their friends and family, form a team and come out to Walk for those affected by MS,” Batchelder said. “It is our hope that one day soon a cure will be found.”
