ASHLAND, Maine — The playoff road for the East Grand softball team came to an end June 8, 2016 as the No. 11 Vikings were shut out by No. 6 Ashland, 12-0, in a five-inning preliminary playoff game shortened via the mercy rule.
Cassidy Pelletier pitched the two-hit shutout for the Hornets. Amber Chasse cranked a two-run home run and a single and Savanna Flint singled twice with an RBI for Ashland (11-4). Olivia Tardie also laced a two-run single.
For the Vikings, who finish their season with a 7-8 overall record, Emily Russell and Jordan Cowger both had singles.
