NEW LIMERICK, Maine — A Linneus man was injured Thursday evening when the vehicle he was driving rolled over into a wooded area on the County Road (U.S. Route 2).
Ronald Dupont II, 49, was traveling west on County Road at 7:27 p.m. in a 2014 Chevrolet Impala when he lost control of his vehicle, according to Cpl. Dennis Quint of the Maine State Police.
Dupont told police that a dog came into the roadway causing him to swerve to miss the animal.
Cpl. Quint stated an eyewitness reported that Dupont was already across the centerline and when he realized he was partially in the oncoming lane, he over-corrected, causing him to lose control of the vehicle.
Dupont’s vehicle left the road on the right-hand side and went into a ditch, causing the vehicle to roll onto its side before coming to a rest on the passenger side in a wooded area. The driver told police he was able to crawl out of the vehicle.
Dupont was taken to Houlton Regional Hospital for cuts to his head. The vehicle was towed.
Dupont was wearing his seatbelt. Speed was a factor police said and charges may be pending as the case is still under investigation.
