Henderson run, softball event set for this weekend

The second annual Aaron Henderson Memorial 5K race will be held Saturday, Aug. 6, 2016 starting at 9 a.m. at the Houlton Community Park cross country course. The cost is $20 to register and all proceeds go to the Green Beret Foundation in Henderson’s name.

Sgt. 1st Class Henderson was an active duty member of the elite Green Berets, assigned to A Company, 2nd Battalion, 5th Special Forces Group, Airborne when he was killed by an
improvised explosive device in 2012 in Afghanistan.

Henderson graduated from Hodgdon High School in 1997, was actively involved in sports, and had a true love for his family, God, and his country.

The fourth annual Aaron Henderson Memorial softball tournament will also be held over the weekend at Houlton Community Park, with
proceeds going to the Green Beret Foundation.

 

Houlton practice schedules

 All tryouts and practices for fall sports at Houlton High School start

Monday, Aug. 15. All student/athletes must have current physical in order to try out. The schedule for the first week is as follows:

Varsity Boys Soccer — 7-8:30 a.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the soccer field.

Varsity Girls Soccer — 6 to 8 p.m. at the soccer field

Cross Country — 4:30 p.m. at the high school.

Varsity Football — 3:30-5 p.m. and 6-7:30 p.m. at Houlton Southside School practice area.

Varsity Golf — 10 a.m. at the driving range.

Middle School Girls Soccer — 4-6 p.m. at the high school.

Middle School Boys Soccer — 3:30-5:30 p.m. at the high school.

 

Hodgdon practice schedules

Varsity boys soccer practice starts Wednesday, Aug. 10 at 6 p.m. Varsity girls start on Monday, Aug. 15 at 6 p.m.

Middle school boys also start on Monday, Aug 15 at 3:30 p.m. and the Middle school girls start at 4:30 p.m.

Physicals must be current the first day of practice.
