PATTEN — On Saturday, Aug. 13, the K and C Quik Stop and Service Center in Patten hosted a car show. The car show was the first that owners, Keith and Cole Lane, have hosted but they intend to host a car show during Patten Pioneer Days each year.
This year the car show, and Patten Pioneer Days, helped celebrate Patten’s 175th birthday and the Lanes and K and C Quik Stop were happy to be part of the celebration.
There were 32 registered cars and many more on display. Trophies were awarded in several categories as well as a best in show award and a special people’s choice vote. The general public voted on their favorite car for people’s choice and they chose a 1949 Chevy 3100 owned by Jody Anderson of Houlton.
The other winners were selected by those who registered cars and the winners were as follows: – 1959 and older — James Pocock Jr of Sherman with a 1954 Buick Roadmaster.
– 1960’s — Joe Grant of Patten with a 1966 Plymouth Belvedere.
– 1970’s — Arthur LaPlante of Howland with a 1973 Plymouth Roadrunner and Nicole Mitchell of Sherman with a 1978 Pontiac Trans Am.
– Mopar — Keith Mitchell of Sherman with a 1967 Plymouth Satellite.
– Corvette — Steve Guiggey of Sherman with a 1977 Corvette L-82.
– Luxury — Ralph Lane of Sherman with a 1974 Lincoln MK IV.
– Muscle — Barry Crockett of West Enfield with a 1974 Plymouth Road Runner.
– Pickups 1972 and older — Jody Anderson of Houlton with a 1949 Chev 3100.
– Pickups 1973 to present — Scott and Hailey Crockett of Lincoln with a 1986 Chevy C-10.
– Street Rods Charles Lane of Sherman with a 1927 Dodge.
– Best in Show award went to Sharon Clark of Whitefield with a 1909 Sears and Robuck Motor Buggy.
In addition to the car show awards, several door prizes were raffled off. The door prizes included two 20-inch bikes, two model cars, a gift certificates to K and C Quik Stop, a gift certificate for K and C Service Center, a photo collage and memo board, a jigsaw puzzle and a quilted wall hanging.
