The County Open was held Aug. 13-14, 2016 at the Houlton Community Golf Course and VaJoWa Golf Course in Island Falls.
The County Open, which serves a major fundraiser for the Health Services Foundation, collected $20,000 this year.
At Houlton Aug. 13, Austin Lancaster (grandson of tourney co-founder Bob Anderson) shot a 66 on Saturday to win the stroke play tournament. Second place went to Jerry York.
The net winner in the A division was Adam Derosier followed by Mike Fleming. In B division, first place went to Sean Dolomont, followed by Dick York and Bob Gray. Net winners were Drew Marino, followed by Chris Eastman and Kevin Tuttle.
In the C division, first place went to Jim Quirk, followed by Richard Schmidt and Kyle Bouchard. Net winners in the C division were Dewey DeWitt, with Skip Cleary and Scott Spurling close behind.
The ladies were lead by Luanne Dwyer, with Misty Marino and Lauren McAuliffe following. Net prizes went to Marion Collins, followed by Jenn Carr and Cait Dwyer-Cain.
At VaJoWa on Aug. 14, a scramble was played and despite the rain, everyone that showed up had a great time. The winners of the scramble were first gross: Dylan Flewelling, Gage Flewelling, Ryan Brewer and Jeremy Tarr, with a 55 Second gross went to Alex Donovan, Ryan Dee, Porter Gervais and Sam Peabody, 59; and third gross Barrett Potter, Matt Day and Darin Crane, 59.
The first place net went to Steve Merry, Clay Holliday, Corey Holliday and Steve Edward, 48.4; Second net went to Bob Gray, Sean Dolomont, Kyle Bouchard and Marty Bouchard, 49.1; and third net went to Steve Walker, Parker Walker, Hunter Walker and Tim Thoreson, 50.8.
Longest drive winners were: Ashley Wallace and Sam Peabody. Closest to the pin were Austin Lancaster, fourth hole; Warren Walker, seventh hole; Rick Robinson, 11th hole; and Joe Bishop, 16th hole.
