We were blessed with another gorgeous weekend for the Babe Caron Memorial Tournament. All players had a great time and some outstanding golf was played. Congratulations to Saturday winners Ryan Brewer and Chris Eastham who fired a team net score of 58. They were followed by Tony Marino/Matt Falker, and Kody Tuttle/Kevin Tuttle. Sunday winners were Gabe Goodwin and Chris O’leary. They were followed by Bill Dwyer/Steve Merry, who defeated Marty Bouchard/Matt Carroll in a playoff. Friday night’s festivities were climaxed by a long drive contest, won by Alex Donovan at 294 yards, and an accuracy contest of 130 yards, won by Mike Fleming with three shots in the target.
Bill, Nancy, and Aaron supplied hamburgers, and bratwurst which were well received by all. Thank you A big thank you to all the staff and volunteers who helped make this a really enjoyable event. A special thank you to Vaughn Putnam who came in to be a mark for the Tuttle team.

Sunday, we will host our local Ryder cup competition with Mars Hill CC. Course will be available for play with limited tee times in the morning. That afternoon at 3 will be the start for the Cross Country par three tournament. Nine holes of of short par 3 holes over trees and water, driveways and sand. It is really a fun tournament with proceeds going our friend Greg Palmer to help defray travel costs for treatment. Hope to see many groups there.
The Lakeside Restaurant had a very busy weekend with prime rib being the star of the show. Entertainment provided by Undertone. Sept. 23 will feature music by Paul LaPointe. He always is a hit and brings the crowd into the show. Aroostook County will be heading into a stunning time of year, so come out to enjoy the beautiful views from the dining room.
Finally, I would like to pass along this note from some new members. On behalf of the Golf for Life members, we thank HCGC and Vital Pathways for teaming up for this wonderful free program. Thank you Dave Grant, who blew away our expectations of five one hour group lessons with various extra instructional opportunities at the course, driving range, and scrambles. Thank you HCGC, all members, and staff for your support and fun in the scrambles, for your patience and warm welcome as we learn to play and love a lifetime game – golf!
We the staff say “Welcome” to these new golfers and next year the program will be back with more golfing to come so tell your friends.
