HOULTON — The Maine State Police Troop F barracks in Houlton responded to 279 calls for service during the weeks of Sept. 4-17.
Thursday, September 8
– Trooper Luce arrested a 22-year-old Washburn man after he struck and injured a woman with his vehicle, failed to report the incident and fled the scene. The woman wanted to speak to the man due to her hearing rumors he was trying to engage in sexual activity with her younger sister.
The woman saw his truck coming down the road in Perham, got out, and began walking towards him. The man struck the woman with the vehicle, stopped briefly, and then left the area without checking her well-being. Tr. Luce and Tr. Levesque located the man and arrested him for violation of bail, driving to endanger, and failure to report a crash with injuries.
– Maine State Police investigated an incident that took place in Easton, Eagle Lake and Lincoln. During the week, Sgt. Fuller and Glenni responded to three requests for K-9’s from local agencies. Aroostook County Sheriff’s Office called twice to locate subjects from well-being type checks and Lincoln PD called for assistance with locating subjects that fled from a vehicle. In the ACSO calls, one subject was located walking on the road and in the second the subject was located prior to arrival. On the Lincoln incident, Sgt. Fuller and Glenni successfully identified one of the occupants from the vehicle.
Friday, September 9
– Trooper Pescitelli received a complaint regarding a male subject who had been banned from a Mars Hill business and was back on the property drinking beer and urinating on the buildings. Tr. Pescitelli met the male behind the business and recognized him. The male was on bail not to use or possess any alcohol was consuming alcohol when Tr. Pescitelli saw him and as a result, the male was arrested for trespassing and violating conditions of release and brought to the Aroostook County Jail.
Monday, September 12
– Sgt. Clark stopped a 37-year-old Easton resident, in Easton, for a traffic infraction. Sgt. Clark learned the man had a suspended driver’s license for failing to maintain required liability insurance. Sgt. Clark issued the man a summons for the violation.
– Tr. Saucier investigated a complaint in Smyrna when a landowner called and reported a neighbor had been bothering her family and possibly had a firearm during one of the encounters. Tr. Saucier learned that the subject was a felon. He spoke with him and the male subject apologized for his behavior, but denied having a firearm. The neighbor called back after Tr. Saucier left and reported that she believed the person had fired two gunshots. Tr. Saucer returned with a search warrant, but no firearm or evidence of any gunshots being fired was found.
Tuesday, September 13
– Cpl. Quint stopped a 23-year-old Fort Kent woman for criminal speeding on Route 161 in Madawaska Lake. The woman had her infant child in the vehicle at the time of the stop. The woman said she was having a lot of problems with her truck and was meeting a wrecker in Caribou so it could be returned to the dealer for service. The woman was issued a criminal summons for driving 90 mph in a 55-mph zone.
– Troopers Saucier and Sylvia responded to Staceyville when a local couple both called 9-1-1 to report that they wanted each other removed from the residence they were staying at. Troopers were familiar with the couple. The male subject reported that he had been assaulted the night before by the female. During the encounter, she had taken kitchen knives and came after him. He had been able to stop the attack and ultimately left the residence before returning in the morning to try and work things out. They both called the police. The female was arrested for domestic violence assault and taken to Penobscot County Jail.
Friday, September 16
– Tr. Saucier arrested a Staceyville man on an outstanding warrant. He was arrested and transported to Penobscot County Jail without incident. The warrant was for unpaid fines in relation to a charge of violating conditions of release.
Saturday, September 17
– Tr. Curtin stopped a local man in Frenchville for speeding. A license check revealed that the operator did not have a valid driver’s license. He was warned for his speed and summoned for operating without a license.
