Ricker Rumblings

Dear friends, here is another Ricker Rumblings. Hope you enjoy.

Thomas Vasco, who was in an automobile accident in Littleton over a week ago, has left Eastern Maine General in Bangor. He has been transferred to Stillwater, another nursing home in Bangor. When Margaret Drew was in Bangor recently, she had a chance to see Thomas.

One day last week, Lavina Byron rode to Dixmont to visit a friend. Her son, Roger, went with her and he drove further onto Portland. Lavina said it was a good outing and it was wonderful to see her friend.

Had a ride to Oakfield with three other ladies where we watched the windmills. I’m sure there is another name for them but that is what I call them. We visited a couple of stores and then had a nice meal at the “Place to Eat.” It was a very nice day for a ride to the country.

Did you see McDonald’s do down? Lots of changes lately with Beals staying “put,” Town and Country leaving, Domino’s coming in. Anything else?

We are now in the north of October. Where does the time go?

I received notice that my friend Peggy Hickey died. She and her family lived in the Blackhawk house while in Houlton. Her husband was James, who worked “on the line,” until he was transferred to Lubec where he eventually died. There were several children in their family, Tim, Mary, Dean, twins and more. Peggy was a retired nurse and her demise was at Ross Manor in Bangor. May she rest in peace.

The annual rummage sale at St. Mary’s Church will start tomorrow, Thursday, for three days. If you haven’t been to a rummage sale before, now is the time.

My angel verse is: “If we look hard enough, we can find plenty of angels right in our own lives. They heal us, shelter us, feed us, teach us. They keep us safe. They entertain us. They help us. They are us.”

Harriet Garnett is home from Houlton Regional Hospital after surgery. Hope you are doing well.

Have a good week full of love and kindness.
