HOULTON, Maine — A two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Pleasant and Elm streets resulted in minor injuries to three people Friday morning.
According to Officer Theron Bickford of the Houlton Police Department, Nancy George, 61, of Dyer Brook was traveling east on Pleasant Street around 10:17 a.m. in a 2015 Jeep Cherokee when she was struck broadside by another vehicle.
Marjorie Melvin, 84, of Houlton was traveling south on Elm Street in a 2011 Toyota Corolla when she failed to stop for a stop sign and ran into George’s vehicle. Both George and her passenger, 61-year-old Carol Brown of Dyer Brook were taken to Houlton Regional Hospital by ambulance for minor cuts and bruises.
A dog, which was a passenger in George’s vehicle was taken to a local veterinarian to be checked for injuries.
The Toyota Corolla was totaled in the collision, but Melvin was unharmed. The Jeep Cherokee sustained significant damage. All of the occupants were wearing seatbelts. No charges were filed in the case.
